I want to allocate the cash part of my holdings to something that I can cash out during a downturn, or inflationary period...

I don't want cash because inflation could just rip through it. I want a doomsday cash equivalent!

I was thinking timber, precious metals, investments in wind farms and investments in farmland REIT
