Just a heads up but if you are in the US and itemize your taxes you may want to make an early mortgage payment before January 1st as then you are allowed to claim the paid interest in 2017 (Just for the month of January due to the payment and interest being in the month of December 2017) before congress possibly or in fact does away with lot of the tax deductions.
Might save you some money, just make sure your payment posts in complete by December 31st.
