We just moved into our new house about a week ago, (new to us, the house was built in 1910), and found a small patch between the basement floor and foundation wall where the concrete looks like it is eroding away and turning to sand. The patch is probably about 16" long, 1" tall and maybe .75" deep into the foundation. It is currently wet, which I assume is the cause of this problem. The grading on that side of the house is poor, and this patch is directly below a boarded up window well (no sign of water running down the inside, it must be entering from the outside). I am planning on installing a french drain on the exterior asap, and well as sealing and filling in the window well. What else should I do to fix this and prevent further damage? How scared should we be about this causing major foundation problems? Pictures: http://ift.tt/2y9luzH via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2yQnOzb
