With the housing bubble, many people were slow to dissect MBS’s and CDO’s to find out that their actual loans did not represent the summarized metrics of the security. I don’t even know how I as an individual could have gotten my hands on the details back then to investigate it even if I had thought of it. The ratings firms who people trust to do such analysis were just selling ratings.
What systemic issue do you think could be brewing right now? What public data is available to analyze it?
