I live and work in Chicago, prior to that I lived about 100mi west of Chicago but yet still commuted, everyday, 200mi to the Chicago suburbs and back for work.

I felt my rate was high, so I called and Progressive actually raised my rate from $98 to $151. I now live less than 3 miles from my work and I only commute to and from work, except for when I visit my girlfriend back home hopefully twice a month, sometimes less.

No accidents in over a decade, no accidents or issues at all in my over 3 year policy with Progressive. I can only assume it's because of the area but I literally live right down the street from work and I almost never travel even to Chicago!!!

I'm calling Geico tomorrow but I still claim residency at my old place. I don't want to be dishonest but I don't feel this increase is just.

Note that I'm not advocating lying, but c'mon, I am a safe driver with a dashcam with no issues for a LONG time. This rate hike is bullshit.

Any insight appreciated. Thank you.

EDIT: Work tomorrow, sorry, back in the morning!
