Hey,

Background: I started working at my current employer straight out of school (3 years ago). 2 years ago they started expanding big time. They hired a lot of guys for the same function with a simiral profile (same education, 1 year experience, etc.). These guys all earned significantly more than me (I work in IT, it isn't that difficult to check). I brought this up half a year ago and my manager admitted that he knew about this. Apparently it's 'impossible' to get a raise halfway through the year (blatant lie but I let it pass) but he promised there would be a correction in december.

Three months ago my Project manager got fired and I got asked to pick up more responsibilities to carry the project (that wasn't going very well, hence the firing). I got promised that I wouldn't be evaluated on my performance as a project manager, only as an analyst which was my current function.

A week ago I had my yearly evaluation and it didn't go exactly as I planned. My work as an analyst was superb and I received no real 'actionpoints'. He then said that I still had some work to go to pick up the role as a project manager. Then my manager claimed that he 'of course' couldn't give a raise for anybody of the team because the project was delayed for several months. He then again acknowledged that several peers were earning much more than me. For that he offered me a promotion to 'Project manager' but no increase in salary. Then I could 'earn my stripes as a Project Manager' and then he would see in 4 months if I deserved a raise.

Honestly I was seriously pissed of and close to put in resignation on the spot. Some colleagues said they agreed that is was bullshit but that I first should think about it. They were right. I was planning to quit my job in May to go travelling and quitting now would fuck up my planning.

Now my actual conundrum: I want to do the bare minimum for as long as I work there. Both my manager and his manager (the CIO) both fucked me over and lied to me on multiple occasions now. I don't want any more responsibilities for another period of time for which I'm not paid. I already was earning less then my peers, now I would be earning less than the people that should be working for me. Is it possible to decline a promotion after you already got it? I don't really care how the project will end up and I just want to put in my hours and endure it until May.
