L.L. Bean boots seem to be rather well known by r/BuyItForLife, but I would like to draw attention to L.L. Bean's repair program for those who may not yet know about it.
I purchased a pair of the classic Bean winter boots approx 5 years ago to use when commuting (several miles on foot per day, all winter long) and they have lived up to their reputation. The tread wore smooth in some areas so I recently had the rubber lower part of the boot repaired via L.L. Bean's repair program. The whole thing cost, at most, $60ish.
These boots are better now than when new. The rubber lower part is literally brand new, the stitching is very well done, but the best part is that the leather upper part is all worn in and comfortable.
Practical, durable, and high quality. Save for the occasional repair, I may never need to buy new winter boots again.
