Hi everyone,

I’m 27 years old and make about $32,000 a year. No debts except a little bit left (less than $1,000) to pay on my car.

However, I have Type 1 Diabetes and I feel like I’m drowning in my medical expenses. Every penny I save goes towards paying for prescriptions and medical equipment. I feel like I can’t plan at all for the future. Even with the insurance my workplace offers, I pay about $8,500 out of pocket every year. That essentially brings my salary down to $23,000 before taxes. I know that people live on less than that, but I’m really struggling.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Or have any advice on ways to get cheaper medical supplies? I really want to be able to start saving, and it’s really demoralizing to see all my extra income go towards these medical bills.

Thanks in advance!
