I received an email last night from Synchrony Financial Credit Services about downloading their mobile app. Included in this email was telling me about an account number ending in a four digit number.
I have never signed up for an account with this credit union let alone heard of them. Has anyone had experience with a situation like this? Could this be due to the Equifax hack or just a phishing spam email? I'm gonna call and find out if an account was opened in my name, but I want to see if anybody has had any situation happen like this before.

Edit - I haven't signed up for a credit card in over a year..
