I lost my job in September unrelated to psychiatric issues. I applied for unemplyment benifits in October. I have yet to receive my first benifet however, I have submitted 3 weeks worth of information. The phone call I recieved to verify the information made it seem that I will be recieving benifits. (With back pay from the week after the first week I submitted until current time) I have had an increase in mental health issues since the loss of my job, borderline unable to function some days, and my family is very concerned. My mother wants me to speak to med management about voluntarily going into in-patient care before it reaches a point where I am forced involuntarily. Im worried of how this may effect my benifet claims as I would be considered "Not readily available for work" and not able to make contacts with employers during that time. I may benifit greatly from the psychiatric help but, I cant afford lose benifits. Im in the middle of a bankruptcy, can barely afford rent as it is, picking up small side jobs for friends, and my parents can only do so much for me. Also, theres the added medical bills if I do go in. I already have 2 ER bills coming my way due to my mental health and somehow managing to dodge being admitted. I have health insurance under my parents for the next 8 months but, that will only help so much. I live in the state of virginia. I dont know my options and its very confusing trying to figure out what they are. Any information/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
