Ok i'm kind of at my witts end here. I have a newer Armstrong 95% up flow furnace, installed in 2015. Its making what I'll call a squeak noise very randomly. Its not "LOUD" but i can hear it when i'm laying in bed and its very annoying. You cannot hear it when next to the furnace unit but can hear it very well in the bathroom directly on the other side of the wall from the utility room. As stated I can also hear it in the master bedroom which is right outside the bathroom where it is the loudest. The sound isn't constant, its somewhat random, and its higher pitched to me it sounds like a metal on metal sound. Its almost like a whistle in fact. Here is a link to a recording of the noise, its not a great recording, you'll need to turn your sound up to 100%, the noise first starts at 7 second mark... http://ift.tt/2huN3gP tracked the sound down to this sequence of events. Noise does not appear until the inducer kicks on and the burners start up. The noise then starts at that point. Noise is present during entire cycle of heating. As soon as the burners / inducer kick off, the sound goes away. The main blower runs then for a minute or so and the sound is NOT present. Can turn the unit right back on and the sound comes back. Doesn't matter if its been off for 5 minutes or 5 hours, sound always seems to come back the same. I can turn on just the fan on the unit and it will NOT make the noise. Seems directly connected to when the burners and inducer kick on.I had my heating guy here, i described the noise and what I have described here. Of course it wouldn't do it when he was here. Since he installed the unit in 2015 and has serviced it since then, he replaced the inducer today to see if that would fix it. Now again this evening the sound is back, perhaps even worse than ever now.I plan on calling the heating guy back in the morning but this is bugging me badly. What is this mystery noise?! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2jvXrZZ
