I was raised by my grandmother from about 15 due to parents problems. I was never legally passed guardianship or anything, so technically my parents remained “custodial”.
I’m 27 now and haven’t had contact with them for several years. After reading some posts on here, I’m concerned I could be liable for their debt if they pass.
I’m in California, so from what I’ve read, it could.
Is there anyway to protect myself or somehow avoid this getting passed to me?
