So I've got about $6k in unrealized gains from GM. I personally believe that in the next 5 years, the company will do well due to the EV/AV market bearing fruit. However, in the short term, analysts are recommending that people sell. While I don't think that analysts can predict the value of a stock, I am a bit worried that they might spook investors into locking into their profits.
I also don't have enough extra cash on hand to buy any dips while also maintaining a pillow fund, otherwise I would probably just do that. I'm worried about the opportunity cost of riding it down.
How do you determine when it's a good idea to cash out? I feel like 20% roi in 8 months is great, and I'm not sure that if save any money waiting for the long term gains tax.
