As in, truly, verifiably holds the % of each stock in the fund, in proportion equal to the amount of money invested into it? If I give them 10 bajillion dollars for VTXXX do they go out and buy a ton of 35 different stocks to be able to "cover" my investment? Or is it based on some weird leveraging strategy (like futures or something) that does not require them to actually hold the underlying stock itself?
