As the title says, I received an email from TDameritrade today informing me that the ETFs I currently have positions in are no longer going to be commission free. See email excerpt below.
"We will be replacing most of the ETFs currently on the commission-free ETF list with a broad new selection of ETFs from AGFiQ QuantShares, First Trust Portfolios, iShares ETFs, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, PowerShares by Invesco, ProShares, State Street Global Advisors’ SPDR Business, and WisdomTree Investments. These new ETF choices will be available in the ETF Market Center beginning October 17, 2017. "
I currently have the majority of my investment in VTI with a smaller piece in IJR. I did a good bit of research before choosing these, so I'd like to keep my positions in them. So now my choices are:
a) Find a new broker that I can continue to trade those ETFs for free or
b) Buy an equivalent ETF from their new list.
I'm pretty pissed off about having to do this so I'm leaning towards dumping them, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
