CURRENT JOB:

  • $90k base salary (Events role for well known tech company)

  • Fully paid for PPO medical/vision/dental insurance for my whole family ($0 out of pocket)

  • $90,000 left of RSU equity (vesting quarterly over next 18 months)

  • Crazy days - as early as 6am on some days, as late as 10pm or even later.

  • Good days - get in at 10am and leave at 4pm.

  • Physically and mentally draining job in Events.

  • Moved into this role after spending 11 years as an Exec Assistant and first year at this company as an Exec Assistant to #2 Chief Exec

  • Unlimited PTO (meh, I've noticed people just don't take it)

  • Perks - gym onsite (never go to), 4 kitchens with breakfast lunch and dinner free with chefs (I honestly don't have time to enjoy the food perk, so really take advantage of just the lunch), 80 hours subsidized of babysitter/nanny care (great if my nanny is out)

NEW JOB OFFER:

  • $110,000 base salary + OT (Exec Assistant for C-level of well known video game company)

  • $68 out of pocket PPO just for me per biweekly pay period (husband will move him and kids to his company PPO - $133 cost to him 2x/mo)

  • 5% annual bonus - not as great as my RSU equity

  • Consistent days - 8-8:30am start and 5:30pm finish.

  • Perks - bagels, fruits, donuts in kitchen. Free/discounted video games (more perk for my husband ha!), discounted gym membership.

As far as the #s go, the 401ks are the same in terms of match. I'd be giving up $90k of my $200k equity package if I moved to the new role. So it's clear that my current job is higher in annualized compensation. But energy is draining and really miss the fulfillment of the Exec Asst role. I joined my current company fairly early-ish while they were considered a startup, and take total pride in working for them, super passionate about the product. Since pivoting from my initial EA role to the Events role, I took a slight dip in salary since I was earning crazy OT as an Exec Asst. I'm also really unhappy with my current manager, although just found out yesterday the org is being restructured and I'm going to be reporting into someone I actually do like.

My biggest takeaway with the moving into the new role is the opportunity to get work life balance back again, and possibly focus my personal time and energy starting side hustles, and hopefully turn them into something lucrative.

Lastly, I anticipate my husband getting a promotion by end of year/beginning of next year which will bump his annualized salary from $150k base + 35% bonus to $165/170k base + 35% bonus. This definitely isn't guaranteed but my confidence in him is a big motivator for me to accept the new job offer.

What should I do?!
