I live in a rural area, 45 miles from where I work, which is an office building in the main downtown area of a large city. The nearest park & ride transit center from my home is a train station 17 miles from work, so I take that into work. At my gas mileage of about 31/mpg, it's saving me a gallon of gas every day, or 20 gallons a month (which is a full tank of gas for my car, or about $53).
Regular monthly transit passes in my area are $100/month. But my employer has a deal with the transit company, so I pay $100 a year. So if my math is correct, I'm saving over $500 a year.
Who else gets great transit deals?
