I am part of an undergraduate mechanical engineering program and am doing a project focused on solar tracking. The general concept: We have this large lens that can heat a given point a crazy amount when faced into the sun and we want to keep that point constant. So, we have begun creating a solar tracking system that uses two motors (one to move the lens up and down, one to turn the entire platform on an axis). The system consists of a platform atop another with ball bearing inbetween so it can turn easily.Problems: We want to create a worm gear system to turn a large gear attached to the top platform to turn the system as a whole. Right now, we have crappy drill motors we want to exchange for other ones that work better with the arduino and can turn the platform. We are working with two 12 V car batteries an arduino uno and a bunch of inexperienced college kids. Please help any way you can! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xeihmP
