EDIT: May have found a solution. My in-laws have a dog that is smart enough to open doors, but only by pushing UP on the handle with his snout. He's starting to get into rooms and chewing stuff up. A few years ago I had a door handle in my house that had something wrong with it and it would ONLY open when pushing down (not pulling up). With that in mind, I wondered if it might be possible to intentionally modify the internals of a handle to get it to do the same thing - only open when pushed down, not when pushed up - as this would likely keep the dog from being able to open them. All my searching keeps returning results the other way - fixing situations like my old door handle from only opening one way to opening both ways (or results that seem to say just turn handle upside down). If this is possible, can anyone point me in the direction of any guides? I'd love to be able to keep the dog out of some of the rooms in their house without requiring gates on every doorway and locks on every door.ThanksPS: Door handles effectively similar to this though not sure on the make and model. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2yvnHtE
