I'm redoing my basement and there is an existing wall that has been partially torn out. I want to make it into an angled half-wall without having to tear down the stair-side drywall (at least not down to the steps themselves) Before I continue, here are some reference images full shotEDITED // full shotunedited // end beamfull // end beamtop // end beambottom // corner1 // corner2 The board at the bottom of the stairs is not load bearing and is being removed, as is the second beam. My plan originally was to cut the boards at an angle that matches the drywall cut, but I'm uncertain on how to approach the two ends. so I have a few questions: for the bottom, should I cut the bottom board at an angle, or cut it flat, or something else? (adjusting the board that will go on top to be cut accordingly) for the top corner, should I stop at the third board and fix the drywall on the other side, or continue to where I cut? if I continue, how should I frame that corner? I'm going to finish the top of the half wall with moulding, so do I need to drywall over the (what will be) exposed angled board, or can I just put the moulding over it?
