I'll be traveling internationally for about a week pretty soon, including a 12 hour plane trip. I'd love to have a device to play movies on, and maybe some games to pass the time. I could shell out $1k+ for a new laptop, but there is no way I'd use it enough outside of this trip to justify the cost of an entirely new machine. I'd maybe use it once every few months and in a couple years it would be too weak to do anything - as happens to most laptops. I'd like to avoid paying so much for what would essentially turn into a really expensive dust collector.

I've found a couple rent-to-own places that have weekly or monthly plans for like $50-$100. But I have no desire to own this machine. I just want it for a week and then to return the item. Are these places sketchy enough where this would be a bad plan? Is there any better alternative to get my hands on a laptop for a week?
