I know this may not seem like much to some, but it is a pretty meaningful milestone for me. I'm 24, with average salary, moderate student loan debt, stupid credit card debt, high rent/utilities, car loan, phone bill, bad spending habits etc. etc. I always thought I would be doomed to live paycheck to paycheck.

With the tips I've learned by lurking this sub I've managed to consciously save money anywhere I could, change my spending behavior, and overtime finally reached my goal of 5 digits, now on to 6! Today i'm proud of myself.

Thanks PF :)

Things that have helped me the most:

Setting up direct deposit of 20% of paycheck into savings, Cooking my own meals during the week and using the Mint app to help keep track of bill payments and plan ahead.
