Hi, I have built a few basic things in my life, mainly woodworking (a fence for my home, some garden furniture, etc), and I have some basic experience with electronics (simple arduino stuff). I work as a computer programmer and am really good with computers.I want to start getting into mechanical stuff too, but don't really know how. I have a plan to build a small toy car for my son. I started working on a simple frame out of wood, but I want to connect wheels, and a working steering wheel.I started learning Autodesk Fusion 360 so I can sketch out what I want. The wooden frame is easy for me since I can build most pieces I can imagine out of wood, but for the mechanical parts im a little lost. I can imagine in my head how it will work, and can make a sketch of it on paper, but I don't know where to find/buy the pieces i need for it.For example - I know I need bearings for the wheels, that's easy. But, for the steering wheel, I know I need some rod, and then I want some kind of connecter that will be screwed on the end of the rod, that when turned will move the front wheel axis. This "connecter" i have no idea where to look for..I know I can design something myself in Fusion360, but I don't want to go in to custom fabrication and I believe that all the parts I'll need exist in some factory/store/online somewhere, I just don't know how to look for them.Where do I find online stores with various parts for mechanical machines ?Do I need to plan the pieces custom, and order them from someone that can fabricate it for me?Thanks in advance via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2fBxYJq
