Ok guys, I need recommendations for sheets. They don't need to last for life obviously, but they do need to fit certain criteria.
I need thick smooth sheets - more like sateen, but definitely thick. No crispy percale! They need to be able to withstand weekly washing in hot bleach-y water, so available in white is a must. Thread count doesn't matter to a certain degree. I'm not impressed by 1000 thread count, but also wary of 200 thread count.
I started by ordering JC Penny's sateen sheets, which are recommended by the Sweethome and Sleep Like the Dead. They were the equivalent of a cheap suit. Thin, shiny. They went straight back. I've since tried all of Land's Ends' offerings, felt up every sheet at Costco, Target, and the Hotel Collection (various lines) at Macy's. I'm currently preparing to return a pair of Luxe pillowcases from Brooklinen. Won't purchase from LL Bean, so that's not an option (and I doubt they'd have what I'm looking for anyway!)
I have a pair of pillowcases that are probably 10-15 years old and they match my needs perfectly. The tag is completely faded so it's of no use.
I swear I'm not a diva. Cheap sheets are fine for my kids, but not for me. What other places sell luxurious sheets? Bonus points for a liberal return policy or free swatches (don't have to sleep on them to know, just don't want to pay to ship them to me and return them should they not be up to my standards). Also definitely don't want linen.
