I've been thinking about building a DIY LCD/LED Projector for years but what was holding me back is the selection of LCD screens to use I don't really want to use a normal sized LCD screen, Mostly because the size of the box that would house all of the electronics would be monstrous or a small one with low resolutionI was thinking that I don't really need any AV inputs, as everything I would watch would be in Kodi so I just need wifi.. so I have a dead Galaxy S6 here, the phone functions but the charging circuit is dead so I was thinking why don't I just carefully take this apart, use the 5.1" Super AMOLED display with 2560x1440 resolution, push the guts of the phone aside and use that as still a fully functional phone mounted inside the projector housing. This way my projector would have Android built in with WiFi and can run Kodi. I can power it with a buck convertor or even a cheap li-ion charging circuit and a 18650 battery if needed. But let's say I was successfully able to remove the screen panel totally and any other layers of material that would block light without destroying it, Would I be able to project light through it like you can with a regular LCD? I'm thinking about using a 100 watt LED chip.Anyways this is just an idea, Ive wanted to build one of these for a long time, I'm just trying to come up with a high resolution lcd screen solution to keep the whole thing compact. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xWadY5
