I'm a 28 year old guy looking to switch lanes as I've been in retail for a few years following my bachelors degree (IT major, socially responsible entrepreneurship minor). Before anyone asks, my degree didn't involve programming or math and I don't know how to code.

I'd really like to get into the field of building off the grid homes and getting involved in the tiny house movement, as well as general residential building using sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. There's a good school nearby offering building certificates and training for about $3k per semester. I have friends who went and said it was really eye opening.

From a finance standpoint is this a good idea or is there more to consider? I figure even if I don't get into this field I could always use the skill set to flip houses or work on the many dilapidated homes my family owns and surely would pay to see restored.
