I bought a new bed in 2013 and wanted to get sheets that would last a long time. Sferra seemed like a good choice, and I had read at least one review stating they had lasted about 20 years. So, I found a relatively good deal on a king size set and basked in all of their comfort. This is the only set of sheets that I own so they have seen daily use for four years and probably 150 washes during that time.

Some time during the summer this year a small tear developed on one size of the sheet where someone would lay, then the hole started getting bigger. Now, when even the slightest amount of pressure is put directly on it, it tears further. And a second tear has developed on the other side where someone would lay. This one is about 6 inches across already. I'm a bit surprised by this considering the quality I thought I was buying.

I can't justify paying almost $400 again for sheets that will only last 4 years. Do you have any BIFL sheet recommendations or should they be considered disposable items? I remember my grandparents having thick, heavy sheets on their bed. These Sferra sheets have gotten considerably thinner in spots that are used most frequently.
