Hi Reddit,I'm looking for some advice regarding a retaining wall I need to build.Pictures are here: http://ift.tt/2x8Ck2B the encouragement of my wife, I have cleared an area that used to contain a small, and unremarkable garden that ran back and up toward the grass. It was honestly very average. During the removal process I discovered a couple of things:1) The previous owners used large sandstone boulders as fill (bastards!).2) the foundation of this area is not dirt, but solid rock!!I'm kind of committed at the point, so I need a solution to placing post-holes for the wall, so that the desired construction of a fairy garden/cubby house for our daughter can commence. With the help of a friend, who is a truely top bloke, we have cleared the majority of the stone bed down to almost level with the bricks. Now I can simply raise the ground a little, or chip away some more to level it properly. The issue has become the retaining wall.I've linked some images of the pit, as well as a roughly done paint image of where I need the posts and wall to go. So, my question is this:How in the ever loving hell do I dig these post holes??? It's literally straight down into solid rock. I have a kango-hammer than I borrowed from my neighbour, so theoretically I could just hack away at it for the next few days and eventually dig these holes. Given the height of the wall, and the required depth of the foundation posts, I'm concerned this will be a mammoth task. What do you recommend? What's the best way to go about this?I appreciate the help, and I'm happy to answer any questions that might aid in a final suggestion. Thanks again! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2h8IVWU
