Reddit DIY Design Team,I’m moving into my first new home in a few weeks and am seeking your advice on building my Ikea counter wall mounted workstation in the loft area of my townhouse. I’ve lurked around at many of the other posted builds and leveraged many of the comments and some google search to come up with this setup to my wife’s liking.I drew up the attached amateur plan in PowerPoint.Summary of Build:Will only be used for office purposes, some days both of us work from home139” Full length ‘shelf’ style desk – I wanted a floating look but it started becoming too complexLooking to use no legs or under cabinets as supportCurrent Parts List:Two Ikea EKBACKEN Countertop concrete effect; Length: 74”;Depth: 25 5/8"; Thickness: 1 1/8“; Weight: ~45lbs; each counter top will be trimmed 4.5 inches to evenly fit the wallFastCap Speed Braces Height: 21”; Depth: 24”; Load Capacity: 1,000 lbs. per pair (if on 16" centers)139” 2x4 as a cleat running along the back of the alignment notchSpecific Questions for the Community: * How many speed braces would you recommend (least but safest, prevent sagging)? * Is a 2x4 cleat recommended on the side walls? * What am I missing/design flaws as part of my build? Thanks in advance. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2huwPaS
