Hey everyone, quick question on wall-mounting a television. When I moved into this place there was already a mount installed in the master bedroom. So, I checked to make sure it was sturdy and installed my new 42" television onto it. That was back in May. Over the last week we had experienced some really bad storms here in Florida, so I decided to unplug the television. Yesterday, when plugging it back in I had to put a little bit of pressure behind the TV to make room for my hand, and the mount actually ripped out of the wall! Upon further inspection, I discovered that the previous owner had used plastic drywall anchors. I had to get the TV back into the wall temporarily, so I drilled two new holes about an inch to the left of the former holes, and ended up drilling into a metal stud. Because we are renting, I would rather avoid drilling into the metal beams. I am going to have the wall eventually fixed when I have the room painted, but for now I want to get those cheap, plastic anchors out of the wall.My question to you guys is, I went out to Lowe's and bought some metal drywall anchors. They're rated up to 100lbs., and a few of my co-workers said they've never had a problem with them. Would you completely recommend AGAINST doing this or do you think it will be sturdy enough if I put six of them in the mount to hold it up?Thank you! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2wXMlSK
