Hello DIYers, I am looking to a solution to a problem I have been having for months now:So I manufacture a product in China, which I sell locally. The product has a coloured metallic surface. We have been getting many complaints that the surface is scratching, so we are looking for some sort of solution to be introduced in the manufacturing process.I have been doing some research, and have done experimentation with Rustoleum clear coat, and an Amazon brand of polyester resin.Clear coat: It ALMOST solves the problem. But the issue with clear coat is it's not spreading evenly. So there are areas which are raised higher than others. This item heavily relies on aesthetics, so it's important that this doesn't happen.Polyester resin: Polyester resin spread beautifully on the item. To speed up drying, I put it in the sun. The coat didn't seam to be very clear once it completely dried. I'm not sure if this is due to the heat or not. I am also concerned about the application process being too difficult to be replicated within a factory (I Painted it on with a brush).Any suggestions on alternatives, or other applications that will result in a clear, even, and durable finish? Thanks guys, your support is appreciated. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2eQ5YSv
