Hey all!I've been without power for a few days now due to hurricane Irma. I managed to get my hands on an old Powermate 10HP generator (PM0525202.03) and a portable AC unit so I can cool at least one part of my house. This thing comes equipped with an automatic shut off should the oil levels get too low. Well - I topped it up and let it run for ~8 hours, but it then tripped the automatic shut off. Checking the oil levels told me that it did drop below the recommended amount. I topped it up again, ran another 8 hours and got the same result. There isn't a leak. This engine seems to just be eating oil. I've never had to use a generator before now, so I'm not familiar with the maintenance. Is this regular operating procedure for these things? Is it going to guzzle oil like this every 8 hours or so, or do I have a larger problem on my hands/need to fix something? Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xBwidW
