It's been a whirlwind summer in the PNW. Summer came late and as soon as the rain stopped, we went into a kitchen remodel we've been planning for quite some time.Album of the before and afters.Album of all the hard work involvedOverall, we had a very ambitious schedule for it. Most of the work was done in about 5-6 weeks. And then the finishing touches in the following 2-4 weeks after the counters were installed. We can't relate how awesome the new layout feels. We're stilling getting used to it and love cooking with gas, finally! It's also great being able to throw the news on in the morning and still be able to watch it while cooking breakfast. Or keep watching a movie at night while pouring some adult beverages.Overall, there were a couple gotcha's, but nothing too big. The tile floor removal was an absolutely pain. It was not coming up easily and its dust was flying everywhere in the house. No matter how well we taped off the kitchen area. There was quite a bit of electrical that was running through the wall we took down. It took about 2 days to trace all the wires and re-run them. Other than that, it was pretty straight forward.Pricing breakdown:$3700 for the counters, which included the waterfall edge and undermount sink installation$3000 for the Ikea cabinets$5800 for the appliances. Kitchen Gas range and Whirlpool dishwasher and fridge$550 for the vinyl plank flooring. I also have extras when we redo the bathroomsmany more odds and ends and 100s of trips to Home Depot.Total is probably somewhere around the 15-17k range.Since I've seen a few kitchen remodels pass through here, I figured I'd post our remodel too. Besides hiring out for the counters and some pivotal help from friends throughout the project, it was all DIY. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2f8nEIK
