(Canada/BC/Southern Interior--Late '70s/early '80s subdivision) For the past few weeks we have noticed a darker patch on our gravel/dirt driveway. It got more and more noticeable as the temperature cooled off.Steps taken so far: 1) Started digging at it with a shovel and hit mud about 5 inches down. 2) Called BCOneCall for utilities information. 3) Called a plumber and they came out and looked but advised that nothing can be done until it is excavated and the source is found. Here's some pics: http://ift.tt/2yy4zrW have marked where the water company exposed the curb stop valve(?). I have drawn where I assume the water main goes to the house. It is about 15-20ft from the wet patch on the driveway. I understand that water will take the path of least resistance and can surface in weird places.Proposed next steps: 1) Rent/borrow/buy a pickaxe 2) Dig up the wet patch 3) Keep digging laterally to find the source (most likely towards the main) 4) Determine next steps based on sourceAm I on the right track here? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2wOhCTL
