I'll say it up front so maybe we can get past the judgement and to the advice a little quicker!
Single. Turning 60 in a few months. Divorced twice. Cashed in $50,000 from my only 2 retirement accounts. Used it to pay off debt and buy a new house. Debt was from attempting to start several businesses which failed. Spent proceeds from sale of previous house ( $15,000) to try and help my disabled sister. Didn't help her because she's narcissistic and won't help herself.
I have a Parent Plus loan - $28,000 - to get my youngest child through college. Monthly payments are $360. I owe the IRS $6,000. Have a payment plan and pay $380 a month and will be paid off in Dec 2018. Will owe IRS again next year since I just cashed out my last IRA in July. Probably will be $5,000.
I make $56,000 at my main job. Make another $11,000 doing side work. Mortgage is $1200. I'm paying my bills and saving a little - just enough to cover unexpected expenses.
I left Colorado 4 years ago and moved back to my home state Louisiana because of divorce and thinking I needed to be closer to my sisters. 2 of my 3 kids live in Colorado.
Bottom line I want to move back to Colorado now. But I just bought my house in Feb this year thinking I should stop renting. Also thought I had to have a pool. Which is a pain at my age to take care of.
I've never had trouble finding a job before, but at 60 years old it's gonna be harder I think. My daughter works in cannabis industry and I'd like to do that too. I'm an accountant (I know, I know) but not a CPA.
Should I try to get a job in Denver, then try to sell my house? I'll lose money for sure. Should I try to rent my house and keep it? Should I stay where I am because I screwed up?
Thanks for anyone who has any suggestions!!
