Hi guys, I'm super new and green to investing. I really like the idea of passive investing with index funds. So I'm trying my best to do some research before buying.

I know I should be buying something with a low P/E Ratio and a good return percentage. Something like SPY, VOO, and IVV.

QVAL has a super low P/E at 12.6 and a decent year return of 14.7%.

But lately I've been coming across index funds with 30%+ returns on the year like ROBO, BOTZ, and FINX. But they have a much higher P/E Ratio.

My brain is telling me 30% is 30% and I should be buying that but I feel like I'm missing something. Should I be looking at the P/E Ratio from a year ago? What else should I figure in before I buy? I plan to buy 3-5 different index funds. Adding a little bit each year until retirement.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Sincerely Yours

The White Belt Investor
