I'm pretty much a noob learning to work with metal. I built this gate with a steel frame & stained cedar planks. I sanded the steel down to get a nice shiny raw look, which I love. I want to put a clear coat on the frame that will keep it from rusting & preserve the nice shiny industrial look of the steel.I put 2 cans of Rustoleum clear coat I got from Home Depot, but after the first night of rain I noticed little rust spots all over it.
