Looking for some advice on how to fix a mistake I made over the weekend. I have a Gerton table top (butcher block style) desk from IKEA that had been untreated for some time (like...years) and it was starting to look a little distressed. So I busted out the Skydd wood treatment oil that I picked up when I bought the desk and applied a thin coat.Since then I've learned all about the wonders of white mineral oil and what "non-drying" means.Fortunately I've got a couple of things working in my favor. The desk was incredibly dry and I only applied a single, thin coat. At this point it's been a couple of days and I'm just dealing with a slight greasy residue if you rest your hands on the desk. I can wait this out (I vaguely recall this being an issue once before and it just took some time for it to fade), but I'd rather not if I can avoid it.Whatever I do to has to be very easy as I'm an extreme novice and am not in an environment where I can say, take the desk out and sand it down. Anything more advanced than applying some sort of wash is essentially out. I found this post from a year ago:http://ift.tt/2ynCuU7 suggestion in the comments was to use a diluted white vinegar wash. Could that work without making the situation worse and compromising the desk in other ways (like infusing it with a lovely vinegar scent)? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2hgUbgs
