I'm currently starting my search for my first home and am very inexperienced in finance especially in the real estate market. I know there are mortgage calculators available, however, I'm interested in personal opinions. My salary is approximately 80k while my wifes is 50k. I should see my salary rise approximately 10k each year for the next 5 years or so until I reach about 150k where it will remain going forward. We have no children, yet. What would be a typical price range for a first home? Not that it matters but I live in New Jersey where real estate is generally more expensive than other places. Thanks for any advice
