I'm alright with computers. I've built a few, I have a few. Was curious whether anyone here at frugal uses there computers as a means to make a small amount of money on the side.

I'm a student and I need to get some cash on the side, whether it's a small amount or not. I've looked into freelance work in the past but I've never committed to anything long term. I leave my computers on 24/7 and was wondering if there was a way to cash in on that?

I looked into bitcoin mining, but my hashrate is only 1.00 Gh/s. Enough to make me $.04 a month. With some enterprise HDDS, a decent cooling system, and a multi-core CPU, will I be able to make money? What would the requirements be?

If you can point me to videos or guides on this exact subject that'd be terrific, or just give me your own personal feedback.
