Hi! This is a small issue but I thought I would post here since it relates to finances and there are a lot of knowledgeable people here.

My apartment has water that doesn't quite taste salty, but it doesn't quench your thirst - probably due to water softener adding sodium or potassium. I can buy 2.5-gallon jugs of water from the local pharmacy for $3.50. I go through about one per week, costing me $14/mo. A Brita filter pitcher, on the other hand, costs $30 up front but pays for itself in a few months since filters are about $5/filter (based on Amazon pricing) and each filters 40 gallons.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if a Brita pitcher will improve the taste/quality of softened water, or if they know of any feasible alternatives. It's not a big deal, but I'd like to think that a filter pitcher might be more sustainable/environmentally friendly than "outsourcing" my drinking water entirely.

If you have any other tips/tricks for making softened water drinkable, hmu!
