Hi Personal Finance,
As of early this week rumors spread around my office that a fellow employee plans to leave for a better financial future. She currently has what I consider a pretty easy job (I've filled in a few times for her) and she makes an extra $8 dollars more than me.
I currently manage 3 other departments at our job and want to take on the roll of her position. I'm in hopes that my manager will see this as a way to save money and hire somebody who already has experience in her department.
I'm concerned that 1) she hasn't put two weeks in yet and that I may stir up some drama in the office 2) my manager sees this as too much on my plate and I miss my chance at getting a nice raise.
I currently work at a seasonal job and am laid off for 3 months in the winter. I'm considering offering him to do her job for the remainder of the year as a trial period without a pay raise and once I prove to him i can handle the work load to give me the raise when we start back up next year. Does this sound like an awful idea?
