I'm looking specifically at PANW (Palo Alto Networks). Their PE ratio on yahoo finance says -49 and on E*TRADE it says 0.
However, when I go back on E*TRADE and look at the earnings tab it looks like they've recorded a positive EPS since 2015. How can the PE ratio be negative?
I'm reading an article that says, "on a per-share basis the company said it had a loss of 42 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 92 cents per share."
What exactly does "one-time gains and costs" mean? But my main question is what is the real EPS and why is the PE ratio negative?
