At the beginning of August US Bank called me to answer some survey questions (how often I use checks, how much money I make etc.). I went to their branch and did so, but kept getting calls and letters to fill out their questionnaires threatening to close all my accounts on the 28th of August. I was in the branch 3 times after that and was assured multiple times that everything was fine.

Yet yesterday all my accounts were closed. None of the cards work. I am on the other coast of the US and only have access to my credit card. If not for it I would have no money for hotel or food until my flight back. This was supposed to be my vacation.

I was on the phone with them the whole day yesterday and they only said that their main department couldn't see the form that their branch filled out and hence closed my account. They said they tried fixing it, but the only result was that my saving account appeared in online banking - with all the money gone. It says "Account Closed Withdrawal". They can't give a very good explanation of where the money went either. (I think the letter mentioned mailing a check to my home address.)

I have enough money to make it until my flight back. I also opened an account in another bank but have not received the card in time before my trip. If I didn't have my credit card I would have literally no money to pay for my hotel or food.

So my questions are: 1) I have bills to pay in the beginning of the month. If my checking account doesn't get re-activated the bills will bounce. I do not have time/money to re-route all bills to the new account. What should I do?

2) How can I stick it to them in the worst way possible. Again: if not for one credit card that I almost never use, I would have to live on the streets and eat out of trashcans until my flight back.

Any other advice is welcome!

EDIT: As of the last hour I can no longer reach my branch by phone - keep getting a answering machine.
