Under Armour Inc. on Tuesday reported its second consecutive quarterly loss and announced a restructuring plan that will result in a 2 percent global workforce reduction. The roughly 280 layoffs will include 140 in Baltimore... UA has nearly 3,500 employees in Baltimore and 15,000 worldwide.
...reported a second-quarter loss of $12.3 million, or 3 cents per share, compared with a loss of $52.7 million, or 12 cents per share, in the year-ago period.
The loss was better than Wall Street estimates. Analysts polled by the Thomson Financial Network projected a loss of 6 cents per share on revenue of $1.08 billion.
Sales in North America were almost stagnant, increasing less than 1 percent to $829.8 million. Internationally, they skyrocketed. In Europe, Africa and the Middle East sales jumped 57 percent to $103.9 million.
