Be aware --

As of today I am 6 days late on my Time Warner (now Spectrum) bill and I got hit with a $9 late charge and a threat of disconnection (printed on the bill.) It was due 8/10 and I can pay the amount owed by 8/25. I called to place an advance payment for the 25th, so in the end I will be 15 days late.

When I spoke to a billing rep on the phone, he said that since the new company/brand took over: - There are no extensions - You can not place a payment in advance via phone - Representatives have no options - A payment via phone rep, if it was possible, is $5.00 - You might not be blocked from placing a payment in advance via online if the account is past due - He could give me no guarantee of avoiding disconnection if placing an advance payment.

The advance payment did get accepted by the online system for the 25th, so hopefully everything is okay.

Wow. I told him how very glad I was that I had moved all my cable business to Hulu earlier this summer. I am stuck with TWC/Spectrum for internet and the service is good. However these retrograde billing practices are nasty.

I will not hesitate to tell people to avoid TWC/Spectrum. Less than a month late is not great (I'm willing to pay a late fee for my error) but disconnection and no flexibility is ridiculous. I can't believe I was threatened with disconnection for being 6 days late.
