The previous owners of my house didn't know how to use a fireplace and there is a lingering smoke smell throughout. When the HVAC is running the smell is minimal but if idle it gets stronger. Every similar post I've read recommends wash with TSP (or similar), prime with Kilz or Zinsser, then paint. This sounds good but I'll be doing this by myself. I am wondering what happens if I clean the walls then wait to prime or if I can't prime every surface in one day will the smell will seep back into the walls from the untreated areas? I want to avoid paying thousands to have a professional do it. The house is around 1200 sq ft and has 12 ft vault cielings in the living/kitchen/dining area.P.S. Before I moved in a used a ozone cleaner which only got rid of the smell for a while. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2wQSCNh
