Hey guys, I am writing this to get some input although I am fairly aware that this is a pretty common scam. My stepsister was trying to sell a dress on Facebook for I think around $80. She then got a message from someone saying that they wanted the dress and would pay $140 if she would remove the ad right away. I am not so sure if she did or not, but this is where things start to get weird. The person said they were moving, and they would have the moving company drivers drop her off a check for $1600 for some reason (first red flag). So they did just that. She received the check, which I have attached, and good thing she is smart and did not just run to the bank and cash it. I am assuming that the reason is they want her to cash it, get her bank account information and maybe take her money out of it? Is something we should go about reporting to the police? What sort of action should we take, if any? I am aware the check may be fake, and maybe they want her to send money when she "cashes" it, but I cannot get any more information from her right now as she's asleep.
