I just finished watching Banking on Bitcoin on Netflix.

I didn't know about bitcoin until 2014. As someone who lives in the suburbs of TX, how could I have known about bitcoin early on, like 2010, 2011? Without having a network/personally knowing people among the first few waves to catch on, is there anyway I can proactively search for opportunities like this by doing my own research online?

Are there any good websites where I can find up and coming, hot topics, as they're happening, so I don't catch on late once major news outlets start talking about them? Already missed out again with ethereum..

I also heard that a crash is coming soon even though the stock market is at record highs right now, due to underlying economics not justifying those valuations. That makes me sound like a G who knows what I'm talking about but I overheard my friend's dad say that so I honestly have no idea what underlying economics really are but he manages a billion dollar portfolio for a publicly traded company and I trust he knows what he's talking about. Once said crash happens, would that also affect cryptocurrencies?? If so, I plan to save until that happens and then buy as much as I can for both that and stocks.

I was also wondering where people interested in finance get their news/information. I don't know anything other than pages like Yahoo Finance, Reuters, and WSJ. I like having as many outlets as I can, and I know there has to be sources better than the aforementioned so please leave some suggestions. It doesn't even have to be traditional news mediums i.e., specific twitter pages.
