I'm buying a house, was going to pay to put in vinyl planks downstairs before I move in, but ran out of budget. I'm thinking of doing it one room at a time in the basement. The floors currently have a vinyl (not asbestos) peel and stick square tile. However, the basement has likely flooded at least once in the past and I have to consider it likely it will do so again. No sump pump installed, but I've heard mixed reviews from neighbors that do, regardless. To save labor, I was going to put click lock vinyl planks over top of the existing peel and stick. However, I've been told that once the basement ever gets water in there again, the peel and stick will just stink things up underneath the planks. Is this likely? If I peel up the stick tiles one by one, do I need to sand down the residue left behind or can I just sift baking soda over it and then lay click-lock?Suggestions? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2fxq4nq
